After our 4.5-hour highway journey from Alappuzha, I headed to an area theater to observe an genuine Kathakali efficiency and a martial arts efficiency referred to as Kalaripayattu! Kathakali is a classical Indian dance that tells tales based mostly in Hindu myths, legends, and folklore.

I had a reserved seat entrance and heart within the first row with my boy Dennis from the Woodnote Resort. For the primary ten minutes, they ready the principle performer’s clothes and put the jewellery on him. He wore vibrant inexperienced make-up and a extremely elaborate costume! The make-up takes about 30 minutes beforehand.

The present acquired began with some drumming and a unique performer carrying one more colourful and elaborate costume. One of many outstanding components of Kathakali is eye dancing, the place the performers transfer their eyes and faces in an exaggerated approach in time to the music. It takes years to have the ability to do it appropriately and is actually cool to observe!

Then, they bring about viewers members on stage, which is actually humorous! Then, the actual efficiency, full with arm actions and dancing whereas the drummer performed and a singer sang within the background, started.

Afterwards, we ran to the martial arts efficiency! It was so cool. They did sword preventing with shields, stick preventing, flipping, and a lot extra. My favourite was once they jumped by a flaming ring!

Then, we headed again to the Woodnote Resort to have some Kerala parottas and beef roast at their on-site restaurant, Drizzle. Our buffet-style meal would come with paneer, butter rooster, ghee rice, and extra. My mouth was watering simply taking a look at every part.

I headed to the kitchen to see how they make parottas and beef curry and even tried making some parottas myself, however they had been approach too scorching to smash with my fingers!

Again within the buffet space, I acquired some ghee rice, paneer, and butter rooster. It was so vibrant and colourful, I needed to simply lick it! Then, the meat roast and parottas arrived at our desk.

The meat roast was most likely the very best beef I’ve ever had in my life. It contained numerous onion however wasn’t too spicy. I beloved the tomatoes and curry leaves in it as nicely.

The parottas had been so flaky and the meat roast was so good that I needed all of it to myself! And the mix of textures was unbelievable. The coconut milk taste additionally actually burst out of it!

Then, I attempted the ghee rice with the paneer. The rice had absorbed all of the curry, nevertheless it had approach an excessive amount of ghee in it. The curry was similar to the butter rooster curry. The butter rooster was wonderful! Then, I blended the meat roast with the ghee rice. I beloved the mix! It was actually spicy, although. My tongue was mainly useless at that time!

For dessert, we had gulab jamun, a northern Indian dessert. I beloved the candy syrup and mushy texture. What an incredible strategy to finish my evening! Large due to my boy Ebbin for bringing me to Thekkady to expertise the standard Kathakali efficiency in Kerala, India! Make sure you observe him on YouTube and Instagram!
